Santa Cristina, protector of seafarers and patron of Lloret de Mar, a town with more than 1000 years of history located on the Costa Brava, province of Girona, is also one of the places that we recommend not to miss on your visit to This area of ​​Catalonia.

If you do not have the opportunity to visit Lloret de Mar during your big party, there are two places that are worth knowing, that refer to Santa Cristina and that you can enjoy at other times of the year: the hermitage and the beach of Santa Cristina.

Hermitage of Santa Cristina

On a mound just over 3 kilometers from Lloret de Mar, in the direction of Blanes, we find the charming Hermitage of Santa Cristina. One of the things that attract the most attention is its location, on the Treumal Cove and Santa Cristina Beach, which we have to confess is impressive, surrounded by pine forest and with magnificent views of the Costa Brava from its great viewpoint to the sea.

The current hermitage of neoclassical style is from the end of the 18th century, although its origins date back many centuries. Its interior stands out for its large marble altar made in Italy, a collection of miniature ships and the relics that are preserved from the Holy, the skull and a small bone that is carried in the maritime procession during the party we mentioned earlier, from July 24.

Another option is to go by boat and climb a small and steep path that runs through the forest, from the Treumal Cove.
Something to keep in mind is that during July and August there are free guided tours from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. by the Obrería de Santa Cristina, the entity that deals with maintenance and traditions linked to the hermitage.

Santa Cristina Beach is one of the most emblematic and one of the best beaches in Lloret de Mar. This beach of about 500 meters in length is located between small cliffs, in a privileged environment, surrounded by a large vegetation of forests of Pine tree. Being away from the center has a more familiar atmosphere and is also quieter than other more accessible beaches of Lloret de Mar, although in high season it is convenient to come early, since it is also usually filled with tourists who access by boat from the beaches of Lloret de Sea.

Every July 24 the celebrations of Santa Cristina are celebrated in Lloret de Mar.
