Eating badly in Sicily seems almost impossible. Finding bad restaurants across the island is a complicated task, although not impossible (we say it from experience). But it is always good to be guided by the experiences of other travelers, or the recommendations like these that we give you below. Palermo is considered the gastronomic capital of Sicily, and is the undisputed queen of European street food, which also has the occasional gluttonous surprise. In this post we will recommend you 10 places and restaurants to eat in Palermo (good and cheap).

And if you want more recommendations, we tell you everything you have to see and do in Palermo.

We arrived at this little gem thanks to the guys from The trip made me to I recommended it ... and it was a success! The site is 100% local, with grandma's homemade food and good prices. Recommended the famous fried pasta (portion for € 1: € 7: € 2: € 12) or pasta with polpette (€ 9). The seconds of fish (cod, tuna) are around € 12. And for the wait, pumpkin seeds. It is usually full, so it is a good idea to approach and book for that night or the next day.

Largo Cavalieri di Malta, 18

A place simple and extremely cheap, where you can eat something of passage or sit down to taste a pasta or pizza with peace of mind, near the Palermo Cathedral. Recommended: spaghetti with peas and bacon (€ 4), spaghetti alla trapanese, with tomato, garlic, roasted almonds and oil (€ 4). If you prefer pizza, prices range from € 3.5 (margherita) to € 7 (raw prosciutto). Advice: ask for the dish of the day... if you have pasta with tomato, eggplant and swordfish you have succeeded!

Another great place to eat well and cheap in Palermo. Here the antipasti cost about € 5 (try the parmigiana, a kind of lasagna where instead of pasta there are eggplant slices, caponata, or sardine meatballs), the first € 6 (try the eggplants Y swordfish) and the second about € 8 (as for example mixed roast or stuffed squid).

Via Venezia, 20

Similar to the previous style, but so dear that it is almost a legend. Here you have to try the fried antipasto of 10 varied pieces (€ 5) and, for the most daring, an all palermitana specialty: the “pani ca meusa”A sandwich with spleen and beef lung.

Via Vittorio Emanuele, 102

It is a super recommended restaurant, frequented by tourists and (and above all) locals. Here the Pizza It is very good, one of the best in Palermo, but if you fancy something else do not worry that the letter is very extensive. Pasta dishes, meat seconds and fish specialties, although I repeat, the pizza is great! Hehe, I am that if there is pizza in between I don't see anything else. Average price of pizza: € 7.

Perfect when sweets come in: it is one of the best places in Palermo where to remedy sugar drops hehe. Tips if you're lost: try a Sicilian cannolo (a cylindrical dough that is filled with ricotta cream), some cupcake like cassatina (another great Sicilian classic) or dare with the Martorana fruit... but only if you like marzipan!

Via Colonna Rotta, 68 / Via Nicolò Garzilli, 19

Often when we travel we give ourselves a big mess that, for dinner, what we most want is to catch some step and eat it in the accommodation, lying in bed, to be able to be with a good movie. And Panificio Graziano comes to our aid: here you can order a few takeaway delights Like pizzitas (Palermo students know them very well hehe), pasta, sandwiches ... and take them to eat wherever you prefer! It is a store super authentic and nothing glamorous, but if you want to eat cheap and well, it is your place.

Via del Granatiere, 11

If you are on a diet, do not approach. The This local specialty is frying… all types! It is almost mandatory to try arancine (breaded rice balls, one of the most typical street food in Sicily), crocchette (milk croquettes), panzerotti (a kind of empanadilla) and focaccine with panelle (a muffin filled with panelle, a kind of crushed "fritters" of chickpea flour, inheritance of Arab domination). The best is the price: each thing costs € 0.70!

Via Ruggiero Settimo, 68

One of the things we enjoy most in Italy is the time of appetizer, when in many places there are offers happy hour very interesting. On this site, for example, you pay € 10 and you are entitled to a glass of wine / beer / spritz and a table of several meals. Come on, if you're not eating too much, you can dine perfectly. Tip: arrive early, happy hour starts at 7pm and is usually quite crowded.

Via Orologio, 37

Nino u 'ballerino is a palermitano street food institution. Here you have to try sfincione (the typical Sicilian pizza that is like a focaccia with tomato), pane e crocché (a sandwich with potato croquettes), arancine and if you dare the sandwich with the spleen we talked about before.

Corso Camillo Finocchiaro Aprile 76

If you are eating informally, this is one of the best places in Palermo. In this little square in the center of the city, when the night comes they put a few very varied street food stalls. There are from positions with homemade stews typical Sicilian ready, another of octopus, from grilled meat, from fried fish... Turn around and choose what you want most. Then you can sit at the tables that belong to the Taverna Pirtusiddu and order something to drink (the large Moretti beer costs only € 2!).

Ah, we recommend you go before dinner at Taverna Azurra, where the alternative atmosphere of Palermo is concentrated, and take a third for € 1, or the Tennent's (€ 2.5), a beer that sticks its own, but super good!

Here we leave you the map where you can find all the recommendations of restaurants to eat in Palermo

Hopefully this post will make you salivate and help you if you are looking for places and restaurants where to eat in Palermo cheap and good.
