Days 1 and 2Palermo

The first two days we stayed knowing the city of Palermo, the place where we arrived and from where we will leave, after doing a roadtrip touring Sicily along the coast in the opposite direction to the clockwise. Here we leave you everything to see and do in Palermo.

Day 3Palermo - Trapani

The first two days we stayed knowing the city of Palermo, the place where we arrived and from where we will leave, after doing a roadtrip touring Sicily along the coast in the opposite direction to the clockwise. Here we leave you everything to see and do in Palermo.

With a little trembling in the legs we started driving our new friend through the streets of Palermo. It was Saturday and we thought it would be a good day to leave, without traffic and without stress. Well, we were wrong, apparently here there is perpetual traffic! Although well, calmly and paying attention, it is not as brutal as it may seem.

We left at 11:30 and in an hour we were already in Scopello, although before we made a technical stop in a last viewpoint Castellamare del Golfo, and we put a good sandwich of Italian salcichas and panelle, typical of here. Scopello It is famous for its characteristic cliffs. Although to enter the enclosure from where the best views are, "Tonnara di Scopello“, It costs € 5. We made the coast road from where there are good views (shooting normal), we assume that from below it will be much more spectacular. We arrived at the town almost by chance, we saw a sign of ZTL and turned around, of course!

We continue towards the extreme northwest of Sicily to reach San Vito Lo Capo. We were not the only ones to follow this route, there were foreign tourists like us, and locals taking advantage of the last summer heat to spend Saturday in one of the best beaches in Sicily. It really is, the water is super clear and calm. Although the town itself does not have much interest, just for the beach it is already worth a visit.

From here we head south, take the coast road and enjoy great landscapes. But where we really freaked out was in a cart that reaches the Camping El-Bahira From a viewpoint. They are barely a couple of km, but to die of beautiful! On one side the sea breaks against the pointed rocks of volcanic origin and on the other a steep mountain crowned by a watchtower. Show!

We stopped at another Macari beach, more wild than the previous one, with the water a little more moved and where we found some jellyfish ... It was a good place to rest for a rake and toast in the sun while we gossip between the conversations of ladies who do not agree very much.

The last villages before Trapani werePurgatory (will there be a town called Heaven and another Hell?) andCornino, encased between high rocks and with a long beach, the place is very unique.

It was the first day of the route, and we couldn't wait for a better start. Now to prepare the biodramina and go out to pirate life!

Day 4Trapani and tour of the Aegadian Islands

We dedicate the afternoon of the first day and that of the second to wander through Trapani and get to know this corner of Sicily better. Here you have everything you can see and do in Trapani.

The second day of roadtrip is dedicated to exploring the Aegadian Islands. We tell you how the excursion to the Aegadian Islands was here.

Resold, and with a pizza in hand, we surrender to the god Morpheus.

Day 5Trapani - Realmonte

A small historic center, a few restaurants and a handful of street dogs. That is what we thought Trapani was. Leaving there on a Monday morning was almost worse than doing it in Palermo! But we got it, and we headed towards one of the most beautiful villages in Sicily: Erice. This picturesque medieval corner, nestled on top of a mountain a few km from Trapani, we loved. This was our passage through Erice.

We loved even receiving us with a thick thick fog, which would leave just at the moment when our parking ticket expired and we were heading to the next destination.

And this was none other than the Salinas de Nuvia, and later the Salinas de la Riserva dello Stagnone. This entire area is protected by its value, both landscape and cultural. From a bird's eye view they would be like huge chess boards, whose squares are stained red and where, instead of 4 towers, there are numerous old windmills that dot the entire stage.

In the Salinas de Nubia, the first we visited, you can take a tour of the walls that separate them (€ 1) and also visit a thematic museum (€ 3). Parking here is free.

Those were somewhat less impressive than the latter, those of the Riserva dello Stagnone. In these you can take a boat to visit the lagoons (€ 10), where there are lots of kitesurfers taking advantage of the wind and the tranquility of the water. There is also a bareto to pour some beers with a very interesting panorama. The parking here costs € 1 (we were nothing, 5 minutes, and the boy let us be without paying). If what you want is to stop for some beers, we advise you Lupa BeachIt has a lot of roll!

From here we begin a tour of secondary roads that go deep into Sicily, through olive groves, small orchards and huge vineyard crops. Is the Marsala region, famous for its sweet wine similar to Porto.

The day is over at the Scala dei Turchi, very close to Agrigento. The idea was to climb this limestone rock of a radiant white and watch the sunset from there. If the fog bothered us in Erice, here has been the recording of a movie (which seems very bad), that they have reserved the whole place for them ... Su pu ... dre !! If you are lucky, here are some tips to visit the Scala dei Turchi.

We stayed to sleep in an Airbnb of Realmonte, very close there, praying that tomorrow it will not rain and we can visit without soaking up the Valle dei Templi.

Day 6Realmonte - Ragusa

I lost the sunglasses, yesterday I hit the shin with the bedside table and I have a good wound, we could not climb the Scala dei Turchi for the damn shooting of a movie and tonight at 4 in the morning the cyclone has arrived that It is whipping Sicily for a few hours. And as if that were not enough, I just scratched my eyes like an animal, causing a very fat conjunctivitis ...

But the worst of all is that we will not be able to visit one of the places that we had long marked on the itinerary: Valley of the Temples. Water falls to jets, there are streets that look like rivers and driving along the road becomes complicated. But the roadtrip has to follow and we leave to our left the splendid classical ruins, there on top of the mountain, behind the downpour. What a pity!

We also couldn't stop at Agrigento, the city closest to the ruins, and also worth a visit. The idea was to spend the day between these two places, and arrive in the afternoon at Ragusa. The plan changed and at 1 we were already in the apartment and the car was well parked.

Afternoon of ravioli, coffee, computer and sideways glances at the window. Still raining. Until at 5:30 p.m. a little light burst, is it possible that he has escaped? It's possible. In 10 minutes we were ready to go out to discover this magnificent city, divided into the old Ragusa and the new Ragusa.

We go down the legendary stairs, along the same ones that the Commissioner Montalbano frequented, and then go up to Ragusa Ibla, the old part and a real jewel. These are the 15 best things to see and do in Ragusa.

We returned late at night feeling lucky. The day started like the ass, but it doesn't rain forever 🙂
